Bhagvadgita:- Part9


कर्मेन्द्रियाणि संयम्य य आस्ते मनसा स्मरन्
इन्द्रियार्थान्विमूढात्मा मिथ्याचारः स उच्यते
Translation:- It is impossible that one restrains one’s senses but continues to think of sensual pleasure. He is not active, but he is a mad man.

यस्त्विन्द्रियाणि मनसा नियम्यारभतेऽर्जुन।
कर्मेन्द्रियैः कर्मयोगमसक्तः स विशिष्यते
Translation:- Far better is one who controls his senses through the mind and engages oneself in the karma without attachment, Arjuna.

नियतं कुरु कर्म त्वं कर्म ज्यायो ह्यकर्मणः।
शरीरयात्रापि च ते न प्रसिद्ध्येदकर्मणः
Translation:- Choose to act, choose to do your prescribed duty over inactivity. Without action, we cannot even maintain our body.

यज्ञार्थात्कर्मणोऽन्यत्र लोकोऽयं कर्मबन्धनः।
तदर्थं कर्म कौन्तेय मुक्तसंगः समाचर
Translation:-Remember, that to liberate oneself from the bondage of existence, action has to be done as a sacrifice to the god. Work without attachment.


सहयज्ञाः प्रजाः सृष्ट्वा पुरोवाच प्रजापतिः।
अनेन प्रसविष्यध्वमेष वोऽस्त्विष्टकामधुक्
Translation:- The creator Prajapati has blessed all the mankind at the beginning of existence to perform sacrifices that would please the Lord in prosperity.

देवान्भावयतानेन ते देवा भावयन्तु वः।
परस्परं भावयन्तः श्रेयः परमवाप्स्यथ
Translation:- Sacrifices make the devatas happy who then satisfy those who have performed the sacrifices. This benefits all mankind.

इष्टान्भोगान्हि वो देवा दास्यन्ते यज्ञभाविताः।
तैर्दत्तानप्रदायैभ्यो यो भुङ्क्ते स्तेन एव सः
Translation:- When pleased, the gods will bless all the people. But using those necessities without performing the sacrifices in gratitude, is as good as a theft.

यज्ञशिष्टाशिनः सन्तो मुच्यन्ते सर्वकिल्बिषैः।
भुञ्जते ते त्वघं पापा ये पचन्त्यात्मकारणात्
Translation:- People habitually take the food that is offered to God and by doing so, they are relieved of their sins in the past.


अन्नाद्भवन्ति भूतानि पर्जन्यादन्नसम्भवः।
यज्ञाद्भवति पर्जन्यो यज्ञः कर्मसमुद्भवः
Translation:- All human beings are dependent on grains and food. Food and the grain is produced on the farm by the rain. Rain is the result of the sacrificed duty.


कर्म ब्रह्मोद्भवं विद्धि ब्रह्माक्षरसमुद्भवम्।
तस्मात्सर्वगतं ब्रह्म नित्यं यज्ञे प्रतिष्ठितम्
Translation:- All the duties who are meant to be followed are already listed in the Veda.


एवं प्रवर्तितं चक्रं नानुवर्तयतीह यः।
अघायुरिन्द्रियारामो मोघं पार्थ स जीवति
Translation: -Don’t ignore the cycle of the duty. It is like performing a sin.


यस्त्वात्मरतिरेव स्यादात्मतृप्तश्च मानवः।
आत्मन्येव च सन्तुष्टस्तस्य कार्यं न विद्यते
Translation:- All the duties do not apply to the man who is self- realized.


नैव तस्य कृतेनार्थो नाकृतेनेह कश्चन।
न चास्य सर्वभूतेषु कश्िचदर्थव्यपाश्रयः
Translation:- The self-realized person has no attachment to the duties. He performs his karma without any attachment.


तस्मादसक्तः सततं कार्यं कर्म समाचर।
असक्तो ह्याचरन्कर्म परमाप्नोति पूरुषः
Translation:- So you have to perform your prescribed karma and duties without any attachment to the output of your duty. Then only you will  achieve the realization of the Almighty.
