Bhagvadgita- Part5


अथ चैत्त्वमिमं धर्म्यं संग्रामं न करिष्यसि।
ततः स्वधर्मं कीर्तिं च हित्वा पापमवाप्स्यसि
Translation:- R u refusing to fight? If you are refusing this dharmic battle, you are sinning by not performing your duty. You will lose your reputation too.
 

अकीर्तिं चापि भूतानि कथयिष्यन्ति तेऽव्ययाम्।
संभावितस्य चाकीर्तिर्मरणादतिरिच्यते
Translation:- You will be remembered as a coward. Dishonour is the worst than death.
 

भयाद्रणादुपरतं मंस्यन्ते त्वां महारथाः।
येषां च त्वं बहुमतो भूत्वा यास्यसि लाघवम्
Translation:- Brave  fighters who praise you now will assume you left the battle fearing for your life. They will lose all the respect for you.

 

अवाच्यवादांश्च बहून् वदिष्यन्ति तवाहिताः।
निन्दन्तस्तव सामर्थ्यं ततो दुःखतरं नु किम्
Translation:- Your hidden enemies will humiliate you, even your ability will be questioned? Could there be anything worst than this?

 

हतो वा प्राप्स्यसि स्वर्गं जित्वा वा भोक्ष्यसे महीम्।
तस्मादुत्तिष्ठ कौन्तेय युद्धाय कृतनिश्चयः
Translation:- In a case, you die while fighting, you will experience pleasure in heaven. If you win, you will experience pleasures on the earth. It is a win-win situation. So, standup, O’ Arjuna, and fight the battle with the determination.

 

सुखदुःखे समे कृत्वा लाभालाभौ जयाजयौ।
ततो युद्धाय युज्यस्व नैवं पापमवाप्स्यसि
Translation:- And if you fight because it is your responsibility, disregarding the joy and sorrow and loss then there is no sin incurred anyway.

 

एषा तेऽभिहिता सांख्ये बुद्धिर्योगे त्विमां श्रृणु।
बुद्ध्यायुक्तो यया पार्थ कर्मबन्धं प्रहास्यसि
Translation:- I have just shared with you the wisdom of the Sankhya yoga also known as analytical knowledge. Now hear well as I tell you about buddhi yoga. O’ Partha, this wisdom will free you from the bondage of the karma.




नेहाभिक्रमनाशोऽस्ति प्रत्यवायो न विद्यते।
स्वल्पमप्यस्य धर्मस्य त्रायते महतो भयात्
Translation:- Following the path of the dharma will never be wasted. It will never hamper your progress. Whereas even a little advancement will save you from many dangers.
 


व्यवसायात्मिका बुद्धिरेकेह कुरुनन्दन।
बहुशाखा ह्यनन्ताश्च बुद्धयोऽव्यवसायिनाम्
Translation:- This path requires determination and focus. In a case the intelligence is multi-branched then you will be distracted,

 

यामिमां पुष्पितां वाचं प्रवदन्त्यविपश्चितः।
वेदवादरताः पार्थ नान्यदस्तीति वादिनः
Translation:- The Vedas advocate rituals by an appealing play of floral words. Men of scanty knowledge get attracted to it and they don’t look beyond.

 

कामात्मानः स्वर्गपरा जन्मकर्मफलप्रदाम्।
क्रियाविशेषबहुलां भोगैश्वर्यगतिं प्रति
Translation:- For such people, their only goal is a material desire and the wealth, heavenly planets, or a good birth, or a power which they hope to achieve through Vedic rituals.

Bhagvadgita:- Part4


वेदाविनाशिनं नित्यं य एनमजमव्ययम्।
कथं स पुरुषः पार्थ कं घातयति हन्ति कम्।
Translation: - Knowing that the soul is a birthless, deathless, and indestructible, how will you smash anyone? Or how will anyone be killed, Partha?
 

वासांसि जीर्णानि यथा विहाय
नवानि गृह्णाति नरोऽपराणि।

तथा शरीराणि विहाय जीर्णा
न्यन्यानि संयाति नवानि देही

Translation: - Just as we discard old, worn-out clothes, the soul tears off the body to enter a new body at the time of death. A body is for the soul what clothes are for us.
 


नैनं छिन्दन्ति शस्त्राणि नैनं दहति पावकः।
न चैनं क्लेदयन्त्यापो न शोषयति मारुतः
Translation: - The soul cannot be wounded by any weapon. It cannot be burnt by fire nor moistened by the water nor by the wind.

 


अच्छेद्योऽयमदाह्योऽयमक्लेद्योऽशोष्य एव च।
नित्यः सर्वगतः स्थाणुरचलोऽयं सनातनः
Translation: - The soul cannot be broken nor burnt nor dissolved. It is a eternal and immovable.

 


अव्यक्तोऽयमचिन्त्योऽयमविकार्योऽयमुच्यते।
तस्मादेवं विदित्वैनं नानुशोचितुमर्हसि
Translation: - Knowing that the self is invisible, inconceivable and unchangeable, you should not lament for the body.

 


अथ चैनं नित्यजातं नित्यं वा मन्यसे मृतम्।
तथापि त्वं महाबाहो नैवं शोचितुमर्हसि
Translation: -Even if you wish to believe that the self undergoes constant birth and the death, there is still no reason to mourn for it, Arjuna.

 



जातस्य हि ध्रुवो मृत्युर्ध्रुवं जन्म मृतस्य च।
तस्मादपरिहार्येऽर्थे न त्वं शोचितुमर्हसि
Translation: -Because those who are born will certainly die one day, and those who die will certainly born again. Why then grieve over it?

 


अव्यक्तादीनि भूतानि व्यक्तमध्यानि भारत।
अव्यक्तनिधनान्येव तत्र का परिदेवना
Translation: - All the created things are unmanifested before birth and after death. They manifest only during life. Don’t grieve on it, a descendant of the Bharata?

 


आश्चर्यवत्पश्यति कश्चिदेन
माश्चर्यवद्वदति तथैव चान्यः।

आश्चर्यवच्चैनमन्यः श्रृणोति
श्रुत्वाप्येनं वेद न चैव कश्चित्
Translation: - For some, the soul is amazing to see, for some it is perplexing to here, and for the some, it is a mystery when it is been described. No one has been able to decode the soul yet.

 


देही नित्यमवध्योऽयं देहे सर्वस्य भारत।
तस्मात्सर्वाणि भूतानि न त्वं शोचितुमर्हसि
Translation: - Don’t grieve for any a living being because the soul dwelling within the body is always an immortal.

 


स्वधर्ममपि चावेक्ष्य न विकम्पितुमर्हसि।
धर्म्याद्धि युद्धाछ्रेयोऽन्यत्क्षत्रियस्य न विद्यते
Translation: - Being a warrior, it is your duty to fight without fear. There could be nothing more righteous for a 'Kshatriya' then to fight against the injustice and the adharma.

 


यदृच्छया चोपपन्नं स्वर्गद्वारमपावृतम्।
सुखिनः क्षत्रियाः पार्थ लभन्ते युद्धमीदृशम्
Translation: - Fighting a battle opens the gates of the heavenly abode for the warriors. O’ Partha, an unsought opportunity like this should make you happy.
