श्री भगवानुवाच
प्रजहाति यदा कामान् सर्वान् पार्थ मनोगतान्।
आत्मन्येवात्मना तुष्टः स्थितप्रज्ञस्तदोच्यते
प्रजहाति यदा कामान् सर्वान् पार्थ मनोगतान्।
आत्मन्येवात्मना तुष्टः स्थितप्रज्ञस्तदोच्यते
Translation:
- Shri Krishna said:- When one is in divine consciousness, one gives up all the
desires arising from the mind and finds satisfaction in the self.

दुःखेष्वनुद्विग्नमनाः सुखेषु विगतस्पृहः।
वीतरागभयक्रोधः स्थितधीर्मुनिरुच्यते
वीतरागभयक्रोधः स्थितधीर्मुनिरुच्यते
Translation:-
One is neither overjoyed nor agitated in the happiness or in suffering. Free
from the desires and the pleasure, and the fear is nearer to me.

नाभिनन्दति न द्वेष्टि तस्य प्रज्ञा प्रतिष्ठिता
Translation:-
One is of the steady wisdom who is unperturbed by the material desires and the
unaffected joys and the sorrows.

यदा संहरते चायं कूर्मोऽङ्गानीव सर्वशः।
इन्द्रियाणीन्द्रियार्थेभ्यस्तस्य प्रज्ञा प्रतिष्ठिता
इन्द्रियाणीन्द्रियार्थेभ्यस्तस्य प्रज्ञा प्रतिष्ठिता
Translation:-
Like a tortoise pulls his limbs in the shell, one keeps his senses under one’s
control.

विषया विनिवर्तन्ते निराहारस्य देहिनः।
रसवर्जं रसोऽप्यस्य परं दृष्ट्वा निवर्तते।
रसवर्जं रसोऽप्यस्य परं दृष्ट्वा निवर्तते।
Translation:-
Often one may keep the senses under the control, but the taste of the objects
of enjoyment still remains same. But one with the divine consciousness loses
the taste for the other objects.

इन्द्रियाणि प्रमाथीनि हरन्ति प्रसभं मनः
Translation:-
The sensory objects being immensely powerful can even drag the mind of such a person who has the ability to discriminate, O’ Arjuna.

वशे हि यस्येन्द्रियाणि तस्य प्रज्ञा प्रतिष्ठिता
Translation:-
The only way to maintain steady wisdom is to control your senses and absorb
your mind in the Me.

सङ्गात् संजायते कामः कामात्क्रोधोऽभिजायते
Translation:-
If you think of all the sense objects, it will lead your attachment to all of
them. Unfulfilled desires create the frustration.

स्मृतिभ्रंशाद् बुद्धिनाशो बुद्धिनाशात्प्रणश्यति
Translation:-
Anger leads the delusion. Delusion leads to the loss of memory which in the
turn destroys the power of the discrimination. Loss of discrimination means
the loss of self.
रागद्वेषवियुक्तैस्तु विषयानिन्द्रियैश्चरन्।
आत्मवश्यैर्विधेयात्मा प्रसादमधिगच्छति
आत्मवश्यैर्विधेयात्मा प्रसादमधिगच्छति
Translation:-Self
control over desires can attract the God’s grace.

प्रसन्नचेतसो ह्याशु बुद्धिः पर्यवतिष्ठते
Translation:-
God’s grace can end all the sorrows and then it leads to peace.

न चाभावयतः शान्तिरशान्तस्य कुतः सुखम्
Translation:-
Only the disciplined person can control his senses and the mind with the intelligence
and faith in the god.

तदस्य हरति प्रज्ञां वायुर्नावमिवाम्भसि
Translation:-
If the mind hankers for the fulfilment of the desire, any of the wandering
senses can carry away the intelligence
as easily as the winds blow away.

इन्द्रियाणीन्द्रियार्थेभ्यस्तस्य प्रज्ञा प्रतिष्ठिता
Translation:-
Only by withdrawing your senses from the sense objects, you can be fixed in the
transcendental wisdom.
