Ganesh Festival(Chaturthi):-2019


Ganesh Chaturthi which is also known as Vinayak Chaturthi is the biggest festival celebrated all over the world especially in the massive extent in the Hindu Religion. Lord Ganesh is the symbol of 64 arts and the knowledge, health, prosperity etc. It comes during the period of August-September. During this period the clay idols are installed in the home and in many social areas. It is celebrated for the 11 days. There are various names of lord Ganesh; Aaradhya, Amod, Amogh, Aathesh, Atharva, Ayaan, Shreeja etc.
There is no specific evidence when the festival was started. Some say it was earlier started in the Konkan Area. Some say it was started during the 1650 period on a larger scale in the private home and the places. People like Lokmanya Tilak understood the importance of the Ganesh Chaturthi since it was the festival who brought everyone together. He urged the people to come together and celebrate the Ganesh Chaturthi on the massive scale in the social areas during some time in 1890-1895.
It is believed that Lord Ganesha himself comes on the Earth to bless his devotees on this day. Prayers and arti is performed during the festival. This is the spiritually enlightened period for everyone. Many prayers are performed and chanted in the masses. Some of the interesting facts:-
1.     Modak(Ukdiche) is the favourite sweet offered to the Lord Ganesha. Modak is distributed as the sweet during the prayers chanting. Modak is beneficial to health. It is made of the Jaggery which helps in easy digestion and prevents constipation. It is also good for the liver, stomach and intestine. It also helps to control Blood Pressure.
2.     Biggest Ganesh  Idol is situated somewhere in Andhra Pradesh more than 72 feet in height.
3.     Ganesh is also called as Vighna Harta (Obstacle remover) and lord of knowledge.
4.     It is the day when Lord Shiva declared Ganesh as the all over the lord of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh.
5.     Do not look at all at the Moon during this period. It is considered as unlucky. There is the story behind it in the Hindu Religion.
6.     Vakratunda Ganesh Mantra, Ganpati Stotra and AtharvaShirsha are chanted all about 108 times during this period. It has many benefits.
7.     Sacred grass(Durva) should be offered  to the Lord. It should be 21 nos.
8.     Lord Ganesha loves sindoor. Sindoor is offered during the prayers.
9.     Since this is much spiritually enlightening time, let's chant the prayers and pray to Lord Ganesha.

Samvatsarena siddhim cha labhate natra samshayah
Ashtebhyo brahmanebhyashcha likhitva yah samarpayet
