Book Review:- Emotional Intelligence 2.0

Written by: -Jean Greaves and Travis Bradberry

Some unknown author has said the vital quote ‘Your success depends upon your ability to handle your emotions rather than your knowledge.’

In today’s world, emotional intelligence contributes about 70% of success in your business and the service. Emotional intelligence makes your thought process much stronger and it helps you to achieve your dreams and it also helps you to control all the unwanted bonding. In this book, the author has tried to explain many ways to improve your emotional intelligence in many simple ways.  To improve our emotional quotient is not easy and it is not impossible.

1.Self-realization and awareness: - It is to identify your hidden feelings/emotions and its reflections on your mind and the body. Here you need to identify your emotions whether they are good or bad. It is the initial step to improve your EQ.

2.Self-planning: - Here you need to identify your emotions and your reactions to it. Ex. When a pizza is placed in front of you, you can control your emotions and control yourself; in that case, you are self-realized and self-planned. Self-planning proves best when a person works for the longer goals and targets.

3.Social awareness: - Here you need to identify the emotions and the views of people in the surroundings or working in a company. A good leader or a boss is always best in social awareness. A person who patiently listens and notices other person/colleagues views and the emotions always leads from the front and he is the great leader.

4.Relationship management: - When a person is able to understand and listen to the views, emotions from the companion/colleagues around him via face to face and he is reacting to it, with the smile on a face, always maintains the good and healthy relationship with his collogues and companions. A good relationship with your colleagues and the companion will always help you in your critical times.

5.Note down your emotions, whether they are good or bad.

6. Try to look at yourself with the third eye.

7. Stop calling the emotions good or bad.

8. Study your reaction to all your hidden emotions coming out.

9. Tackle the feeling/emotion which is irritating you. Ex. When a person is trying his best to quit smoking, yet he gets the same feeling to smoke, again and again, he should identify that feeling or emotion and face it.

10. Find out the place or the time when your feelings/emotions are rising. Ex. During the meeting, an extrovert person keeps on sharing his ideas, whereas an introvert guy is looking to share his idea, but he is unable to share it due to extrovert person. This impacts emotionally on the introvert guy, and due to sadness, he is unable to share his idea. The moment when you will find out the events that help emotions and feelings to burst out, it will be easier for you to tackle it.

11. Don’t do any worst things due to bad feelings or emotions that harm you.

12. Don’t get blown away with the emotions that make you happy.

13. Find out reactions for your every emotion.

14. Set our principles.

15. Get the feedback from others about your behaviour.

16. Emote the emotions that make you happy.
